url links on ftp site open to IE 11 home page instead of website

I have a couple .url links on an ftp server that go to specific web sites. When I click on the links in Windows 10 it just opens my home page in IE 11. IE 11 is set as default for url files. The links work fine in Windows 7. If I copy the url files to my Windows 10 desktop they also work fine from there. They also work if I change to file view instead of folder view for ftp sites. In my case it is required that IE11 is used and that the ftp site is viewed in folder view. Has anyone come across this issue before or have any ideas how to get this working correctly?

    :)

  2. Unable to access FTP using File Explorer or Internet Explorer

    Hi,

I'm not able to access a FTP using File Explorer or IE 11. When I try using IE 11 I get the message "Can't reach this page" and "Error Code: INET_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND." When I try using File Explorer I get the message: "Windows cannot access this folder.
Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder. Details - The FTP session was terminated." I've tried using ftp://USERNAMEurl links on ftp site open to IE 11 home page instead of website :pASSWORD@ftp.[site].com and the plain site address. I've made sure the FTP options in
IE 11 were checked, I've tried creating a network location, and I've cleared my cache and restarted my computer a few times. Any help would be appreciate, thanks!

    Edition: Windows 10 Home

    Version: 1709

    IE Version: 11

  3. No FTP access using File Explorer with Windows 10 and IE 11

Nyima, I have been managing a website using ftp for over six years, so I do have permission to access the site. I am not sure what you mean by "connected to a domain network." Under all past Windows operating systems prior to 10, the process was simple.
I enter into the address bar the name of the ftp site, provide the requested Username and Password, and then use the IE toolbar to select View (in some versions, it is necessary to first select the ALT button to display the IE toolbar), and then select Open
FTP site in File Explorer. I then see all files in a File Explorer window at which point I can upload/download the site's files. My primary regular action is to upload a new index.html file.

Using Windows 10, when I enter the name of the site into the address bar and then provide the Username and Password to the site, I am returned a page called "FTP Root for [site name]" which is simply a list of the site's files and directories. When I select
ALT, the IE toolbar appears. I then select View/Open FTP site in File Explorer, and all that happens is that the IE toolbar disappears leaving me with the original "FTP Root for [site name]" page. There are no error messages.
