  3. USB MIDI Device Doesn’t Work on USB 3.0 Port

    Hello,

Before I ask my question, I've had a chance to review: Windows 8.1: USB MIDI Device Works on USB 2.0 Port, Doesn’t Work on USB 3.0 Port Microsoft USB Blog - Microsoft Tech Community
I will be referencing this blog in my question.

I'm running Windows 10 Education and I have a USB Midi device I'd like to connect to a DAW (FL Studio or Ableton) but I receive an error message when connecting the device: USB device not recognized. I've learned it's likely the Feature Descriptor request
that's creating the error. I followed all of the steps in the above blog, but I'm unable to construct the registry key location from the idVendor, idProduct, and bcdDevice values. The values are
all 0's. I am unable to complete those steps and my device cannot enumerate or be recognized. I have also installed previous driver software with compatibility settings to no avail. What are the steps necessary to get Windows 10 to recognize a USB 2.0 Midi
device? Will a driver need to be created from scratch? I am happy to contribute to a solution, I just need to better understand the problem.

Here is the USBView for the connection:

USB 2.0 devices don't work on USB 3.0 ports

    USB port not working

I have an HP Pavilion dv6604nr laptop. I have 3 USB ports, 2 located on the left side and one located on the right side near the power supply port. For some reason, one of the USB ports on the left hand side will not recognize anything that is plugged
into it. I have done all the steps and suggestions that is posted on this site, and still can't get it to work. The message I get is "The last USB device that was connected has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it." It shows in the Device Manager
as Unknown USB Device(Port Reset Failed). When I have a USB device plugged into the non-working port, it shows up in the Devices and Printers folder, but the device does not work. I am at my wits end. Can anyone help me or suggest any other things to try?
Oh, I am running Windows 10 pro.
