Windows 10: USB 3.0 device won't work at 3.0 speeds.

I have had issues with USB Wifi adapters not running at 3.0 speeds. I plug them in and they all say "Device can perform faster when connected to USB 3.0." I have:Reinstalled the port drivers. Tried every port on the computer.Bought a new USB device. Reinstalled the USB device drivers. When first plugged in, the device recognised itself as USB 3.0 correctly, then disconnected and reconnected with the error message. I have other USB 3.0 devices such as an external hard drive that works perfectly fine with the USB ports, and the USBview debug tool supports this. I have to assume th

How to achieve USB 3 speeds on USB 3 ports?

I have a relatively new USB 3 hard disk:
Seagate 2TB Backup Plus Slim Portable External USB 3.0 Hard Drive (Silver)
Also, I have an USB 3 SD card reader. Both of these are known to work faster than they do now. They perform at 40-45 MB/s.

I use USB Device Tree Viewer V3.1.2 and it tells me these, for both devices:

My motherboard is ASUS MAXIMUS V GENE and it has two USB 3 options. There is ASMedia USB3.0 eXtensible Host Controller and there is also Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller. I never got any device to work at USB 3 speed on the Intel. They don't supply drivers for Windows 10 64bit as it is already included in the OS. Then I started plugging devices to the ASMedia ports, and they worked in the past. But I checked again and now all devices are using USB 2 speeds on these ports too. I think what messed it up was a recent Windows Update. I used IObit Driver Booser which complained that the driver was too old for this controller.

No joy, even tried manually installing specific drivers. ASUS has this as "latest driver" on their site: Asmedia_USB3_V1.16.35.1 I downloaded it and installed it. Install is successful:

But no USB 3 speeds whatsoever. I ran out of options to try.

 

USB 3 is not runing usb 3 speeds on my board


So i had to get intel chipset drivers for my board from intel my board is a msi z77a-g45 all drivers show working and functioning here is a picture of the drivers installed, i can't figure out why all my usb 3 devices are not running at usb 3 speed they are running at usb 2.0 speed help appreciated.

My PC was running very slowly and I was unable to really get to a regular power off so I had to do a manual shut down. When I turned the computer back on I was greeted with the automatic disk check and repair. I'm currently at the state of the title fixing
(C stage 3: 100% (0 of 0); Total: 99%; ETA: 0:00:00. and it has been hanging for over 30 minutes thus far. Is this a hanging loop or should I wait for it to try to work itself out? What would be my next steps in order to proceed if this doesn't complete?
