USB 3 hub connects and reconnects frequently

Hi All, I have an office laptop HP Elitebook 840 G5 running Windows 10 Enterprise with Windows 21H1 update. My USB 3.0 hub (with external keyboard and mouse) connected to it disconnects and connects back frequently. This leaves me with no keyboard/mouse from time to time (even while in typing) and it is too frustrating. The issue has been there for sometime now and not specific to latest Windows 10 update. I have gone through various suggestions to resolve this issue. Here is what I have already tried; - Re-installed the Intel USB 3.0/3.1 eXtensible Host Controller drivers and rebooted - In PowerManagement I have unchecked device turn-off to save power I did not find any vendor specific USB driver on HP site. I know that this question has been asked multiple times on this forum, however even after trying out the options suggested I am unable to resolve the issue on my laptop. Please help! Regards,

    :)

  2. USB HUB

    Hi,

Incompatible USB hub driver is one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. We recommend uninstalling the USB Root Hub driver and see if it helps. Follow the stepes below:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand.
    • Right-click USB Root Hub, then click Properties.
    • Go to the Driver tab.
    • Click Uninstall.
    • Restart your computer.
Note: Restarting your computer will automatically reinstall a generic driver for your computer. Also, we suggest connecting your USB hub while performing the steps.

If the issue still persists, let's disable the USB selective suspend settings thru Power Options to resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

    • Type Power Options in the search box, then press Enter.
    • Locate USB settings > USB selective suspend settings.
    • Select Disable.

Keep us in the loop with the result.

That screenshot suggests you have 2 USB 3.0/SuperSpeed Hubs.

    USB HUB

I think I solved the problem. I had a usb extension usb cable from my pc to the usb hub, I removed it and so far my usb devices are not disconnecting and reconnecting. Thanks for the suggestions.
