    USB-C to 3.5 mm

I got a generic USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter, so I don't have any manufacturer drivers to install. Actually, the product description specifically said that there are no drivers, that it ought to just work. When I use them with the USB-C port on my phone, they do work. When I use them with the USB-C port on my HP Spectre they do not, although other USB-C headphones do work with my laptop.

When I plug them in, windows installs a device "Dock speaker" which is listed as not working. In the details for it, it says "This device cannot start. Code 10". For comparison, if I plug in working USB-C headphones, it installs a working device "USBC Headset".

For additional color, these are the drivers for "Dock speaker"

    DRIVERS\drmk.sys

    DRIVERS\ksthunk.sys

    DRIVERS\portcls.sys

    DRIVERS\usbaudio.sys

    SysFxUI.dll

    WMALFXGFDSP.dll

and they seem to be a near super set of the drivers for "USBC Headeset" which are:

    DRIVERS\drmk.sys

    DRIVERS\ksthunk.sys

    DRIVERS\portcls.sys

    DRIVERS\usbaudio2.sys

USBC Headset uses usbaudio2.sys vs usbadio.sys. I tried moving the drivers to USBC Headset, I found and installed something called Realtek USBC Dock Audio my computer sound is Realtek, none of these worked.

    :)

DisplayLink Demonstrates USB-C Docking Experience That "Just Works"

I'm glad they finally cleared up that you could use USB 3.1 Type-A connector the same way you could use USB 3.1 Type-C connector. For a while they had me worried I could connect screen only to USB 3.1 Type-C port.

Just when I thought we will have only two connectors (Type-A and Type-C) they brought up Type-B connector. Instead of Type-B they should use Type-A connector which is as robust as Type-B.
Well done, you screwed up again and now we will have 3 USB connectors in the future instead of 2.
