Windows 10: USB devices disconnecting and reconnecting frequently in Windows 8.1

Just after the last day or so my Dell latitude e6540 laptop has started randomly ejecting my USB media, and it's becoming more frequent.Ive disabled USB selective suspend in advanced power settings.Ive cleared and reloaded the usb drivers in devmgmt.I have changed the time when the display turns off since for some this can effect USB timeout. Ive gone into the registry editor to try to disable the auto eject/timeout. Tried various reboots, and even tried system restore to a point before it started.It has ejected while I was downloading a file to a thumb drive and now I have to get it recover

I suggest you to Change the USB power management settings and check.

  Open Device Manager.
  
• 
  Double-click the type USB to change power management settings.
  
• 
  Right-click the specific device you want, and then click
  Properties.
  
• 
  On the Power Management tab, change the power management settings.

I turned off Power Management but no luck. As for the Resources tab in Device Manager, it's not showing up for my network adapter. I tried reinstalling it and updating it but it's not showing up.

You seem to have a number of issues going on with your PC that you might take a look at that motherboard.

Anyway it would help if NerdSquardMember expanded on their suggestion. That said, it may not be an IRQ conflict. However, you can easily check your network adapter by simply going to Device Manager and right clicking the adapter, then clicking Properties, then click Resources...




If there is a conflict, it will be shown

You might also go to the Power Management tab there and un-tick "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
