Windows 10: USB Mass Storage Driver not working

On my HP 15-bs658TU windows 10 pro model the USB Mass Storage driver not working and no pendrive or external storage devices are showing in my computer even when they connected.

• What are the troubleshooting steps you've done so far after your media player stopped recognizing the portable drive?
• Do you have the updated USB driver on the current operating system that you are using?

Mass storage USB driver not installed by 6.83

The USB mass storage support comes with Windows (not PC Suite or the USB cable drivers, which you only need if you want to use it in PC Suite mode).

In other words, with a PC without any Nokia software and just Windows, the USB mass storage mode works automatically with no additional software needed. If it fails on your PC, it has to do with Vista, I suspect.

migget - I tried several things more or less indiscriminately. I don't know which of these steps was the one that made the difference, and some of them may have been unnecessary:

• Removed PC Suite from the startup list, using Vista’s Software Explorer. The same thing can be done with msconfig in XP.

• Studied the entries in Services at Computer Management for anything related to portable drives, PnP, USB, smart cards, etc. and set them to Automatic.

• Enabled legacy USB support in my BIOS.

• Restarted the PC.

• Connected the CA-53 cable and set the phone to mass storage.

• Pointed the driver installer to Windows/System32.

• A couple of drivers – Windows Portable Device Driver was one of them - were installed but not enabled, so I enabled them in Device Manager.

I’d like to be more specific, but it was all a very seat-of-the-pants experience.
