Windows 10: USB pen not showing in windows explorer

Hi

I have a 16GB USB pen, which I have used ok before, but decided to format for a different use. Did t show in windows explorer, so used Aome! to delete create and reformat & rename it, worked perfectly, but still not showing in windows explorer, opened disk management and it’s there, but although I can select it to change name format etc, I then get the message cannot find the specified file *Mad have checked the view options in windows explorer and show empty / hidden files folders etc is unchecked.

any ideas please ?

Windows Explorer Replacement?

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk
