    USB Stick write protected


    Hi, my wife got a new laptop and I was setting it up. Install
    software and moving all her files from the old one to the new one. So I inserted
    the stick in to the old computer and used drag and drop to copy the files, or
    better several folders.

    At one point at about 500 mb it stops and tells me that the
    drive is write protected. I tried it on 3 different computer all say the same.
    I tried to change that, but could not find a way to do that. I clicked on the
    drive and selected Properties, but I got no where. Any one know what to do?

    Going 'write protected' can be the first sign of a failing usb stick. It gives you a chance to copy the files from it, while protecting it from further corruption that may be caused by writing to it. The bad blocks suggest this usb is dying and beyond repair, I'm afraid *Sad
