  1. USB stopped showing up it's contents.

    I have a USB that just stopped showing its contents today. It was working for a little over a year by now. I put all my files on it and I do have a month old backup, I've added and edited a decent portion of them in that past month.Ejecting the disk doesn't do anything, including the ejecting disk troubleshooter from MS. I can change the letter path, then the disk stops showing up in file explorer.I want a way to access my files in the USB, googling it gives different problems from mine.The plugin bug still reappears even changing the place i plug it into. I tried changing the letter from E to N and back.I haven't gotten a chance to plug the USB on a different computer or restart it.

    Try going into Device Manager and uninstalling the device there, under the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" heading. This may take some detective work (I found the "Bus reported device description" field most helpful in identifying the UFDs plugged into my system just now in formulating this advice) to identify the specific item you wish to uninstall. The quickest way to do that is to take a snapshot of the USB devices, then remove your chosen USB device, and see which item goes away. Then, you'll know what to uninstall when you reinsert it. After that, reboot your machine, then reinsert the problem drive. With some luck, this will load a working driver and you'll be back in business. If that doesn't work, post here again, and we'll figure out a different strategy.

  5. I got a chance to try the USB on another computer, That computer worked and I used onedrive to move my files from there to my normal computer, so I have the files back, but the main computer still doesn't know where the USB is.

    I'm not sure which one applies to my USB.

    When I remove my USB, the computer stills think the USB is still plugged in.

    You have to uninstall the driver in Device Manager. Simply unplugging/ejecting the device won't do it.

    ComputerGeek's ref is a good one and worth reading. In general you need to correlate the problem device with the USB device entry to remove. In my earlier threads, I explained one way to do that using the Details tab/Bus reported device description value. Thus, for example, I made sure I had only one flash drive mounted (my problem device). By checking the various values for that field, I was quickly able to identify which one to uninstall. Hopefully, a similar approach will work for you.

  10. The handy thing about using the Drive Cleanup Tool is it'll remove ALL USB mass storage drivers for you so no need to determine the specific device entry for a USB drive (be it flash, disk, memory card, etc)

    On the other hand, if you really do want to find which device entry corresponds to the USB drive, there's an another easy approach. By default, Device Manager only displays connected devices so you simply plug/unplug a USB drive and watch what device entry correspondingly appears/disappears when you do so... That's the entry for the drive in Device Manager

    /* EDIT */

    @Delvin
    If the problem persists, have you tried plugging different flash drives into the computer to see if it's a computer issue for all flash drives connected to it and not just the one
