Windows 10: USBSER.SYS does not handle RTS signal correctly

So yeah this issue is 10 years old now.


Using Wireshark+USBPcap and also logic analyzer directly on the USB line, it shows that usbser.sys does not send SET_CONTROL_LINE_STATE packets when I toggle RTS on software.

[COLOR=rgba0, 0, 0, 1]SET_CONTROL_LINE_STATE is only send on any write to DTR, along with the last RTS value set.[/COLOR]​

I'm using pyserial but other post shows that using other software still produces the same issue.​

Partial workaround is to set DTR to any value after set RTS. However I sincerely hope this issue is fixed on the driver level.​

Asus RT-N56U weirdness

They don't have unmanaged switches by the looks of it.

ERL + ES24 = $305.68
ER8 = $288.95

I'm thinking a 24-port switch is very overkill (more power consumption too). ER8 the better way to go? With ER8:

• UBNT ER8
  • gateway
  • RT-N56U acting as a switch and access point (subject to change in the future depending on how much of a dick it is)
  • Netgear GS108
  • Netgear GS105
  • Netgear GS105

Should the router be plugged into a UPS or is it electrically robust enough to handle power outages without being an hero?

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
