  1. User Account Control Settings

    Hello,

    here's my question :

For a guest account on my laptop local user I need to turn the account control settings off. Don't ask why , it's what I want :-, you don't have to get into the topic "run as an administrator"

Problem 1 : A local user does not have the privilege to do this.

The system prompts for an administrator pasword.

I provide the credentials of my administrator account. I can now move the slider but when I try to save the changes the system gives the message I have to be logged in as an administrator to do this , although I just gave the credentials of my admin account.

So can't get it right that way. That is strange.

Work arround with problem 2 :

So I changed the guest account to the type "administrator".

I put the user account control settings off. no prob with that

    I rebooted the laptop.

Logged in to the guest account and my problem is fixed.

BUT : When I change the guest account type back to "local user" and I reboot the laptop it automtically changes User Account Control Settings back to level 2.

How can I prevent that ?

Can I go into regedit ?

    Thx for your input

    !

    :)

    User Account Control Settings

Settings can't be opened using the built-in administrator account

    Hello,
Unfortunately I have the same issue as Dabz from upgrading win7 to win10.
I've tried opening settings using all the suggested methods and it will not load using my account with Administrator access nor the built-in Administrator profile. I also tried other methods not listed such as using Run. Control panel is just a stepping stone to add users in Settings.
I'm also having explorer.exe issues, which I believe is preventing Settings from loading.
Using cmd (Admin) I successfully created a new user profile [and granted admin access also using cmd (Admin)], however win10 will not allow this account to log on. win10 does not list this new user within control panel but it does in the start menu. win10 will not allow to log in or switch to the new account via the start menu either.
I can access settings in Safe Mode but this will not allow me to create a new account.
Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
