Windows 10: User Account from Computer Name?

New laptop Windows 10 Home setup resulted in C:\Users\Public and C:\Users\<Hydra> folder - Where <Hydra> was the Computer Name assigned during config process. Logon is via "John Doe" Microsoft ID and the only User appearing under Control Panel -> User Accounts is "John Doe", L: john.doe@gmail.com, Administrator, Password Protected. Net User lists - Administrator, John, DefaultAccount, Guest and WDAGUtilityAccount as User Accounts for \\Hydra.

Prior machines setup typically resulted in User folder(s) with names representative of login account(s) - For instance, in the above case, a "John" User folder. When attempting to add a "John" Local User, Windows complains with "Please try another name..." or some such.

What occurred during the setup process to create the only User Folder with Computer Name?

And how do I create a User with "John" Login Name?

Or how can I login with Computer Name to coincide with User Folder?

Ideally, what might work best is Administrator account same as Computer Name along with Daily logon "John" Standard User account.(Didn't attempt creation of "Hydra" User for fear of screwing something up even more...)

User Account Folder Name

Kindly perform the following steps to change your Windows 10 User Account Name.

• Press windows key + R, then type netplwiz.
• Under Users for this computer, double click on your user account.
• Change the user name then click on Apply.
• Click OK.
• Restart the PC.

Remove account


I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

Perform the steps mentioned below to change the user account name.

• Sign in to the Your info page on the Microsoft account website.
  
• 
  Under your name, select Edit name.
  If there’s no name listed yet, select Add name.
  
• Edit or add the name you want, then choose Save.
  Your Microsoft account name will start to appear or change everywhere you use it.
  

Please revert if you still cannot change the user account name.
