    C:\Windows\system32>Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:I:\Sources\Install.esd:1 /limitaccess

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
    Version: 10.0.10586.0

    Image Version: 10.0.10586.0

Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

That's the message I get after running it

Which iso you were using ?
The one you used from the ESD to ISO Tool ?
    or,
The Tech Bench link I gave you in post #5 ?

You are not using my method. Post #5.

Either you use someone's instructions or mine.
    Don't go half and half.
It is not a pick and mix proposition.

    My instructions are ..................................
Once you have the iso downloaded, right click at the ISO > click Mount > leave it there.
Then open the elevated command prompt and copy and paste this................

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:H:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

Note : H is the drive where the iso is mounted. Change it if your driver letter is different.

When it is completed, you should get the report that the operation is successful.
Now run the sfc /scannow again. It should be ok this time.

Perhaps you do not know what I meant by you not using my instrctions.................

The dism command you used was :
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:I:\Sources\Install.esd:1 /limitaccess

The dism command I posted to you was :
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:H:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

See the bold print differences ?

OK, that's probably what the problem is then. I don't see a install.wim file in the ISO file, only an install.esd file that's why I used the esd one. I'll try again now and let you know

OK David, it worked! I did the DISM command and it came back succesful, then I did an sfc /scannow and it said that it found corrupt files nad repaired them.
I restarted and I got a notification that I needed updates. I click on download and it then goes to a box that says "Looking for info on the latest updates" but it stays on that screen and nothing changes and updates are not downloaded. Also, my desktop icons go blank without the program icon and it's the same in file explorer. Also, if I right click on a folder or file to see properties, it doesn't bring up the properties box.
I'd also just like to thank you for your patience with a non-computer savvy guy like me and all your very valuable assistance so far

What happens if you left click at Start button > left side, click Settings > click Update & securities > right side, click Check for updates button ?
Do you see green dots running left to right ?
Will it start to download updates afterwards ?

That message is strange because my computer is not bound to any domain and is not on any Homegroup so I don't know why it shows
