I'm using the Surface Go as a secondary monitor using Windows' Project to this PC feature and it works, but I'm not able to set the native resolution of the panel: 1800x1200. I can set any resolution, smaller or bigger, but because that resolution is not standard, there isn't an option for it. The closest thing to 1800x1200 is 1600x1200, which gives a pixel perfect image, but it has black bars on the sides.

Is there any way to make it use the native resolution, or for me to set a custom resolution?

    Monitor not displaying native resolution

    Problem

After updating my graphics driver to the latest version from NVIDIA (downloaded direct, not using Windows Update), my third monitor which is an Acer V226WL is not displaying the proper and native resolution. The native resolution is 1680 x 1050. I have a GeForce 660, and have had no problems until now with my monitors. The monitor is connected via DVI.

    Incorrect resolution:

    What I have tried:

    • The Custom Resolution Utility
    • A monitor driver from Acer
    • Was going to add the resolution to the registry, but saw it was already there
    • A different DVI cable
    • Disconnecting a monitor / messing with combinations of the connections
    • Putting the monitor on another Windows 10 machine of mine that has identical NVIDIA display drivers
    • Tried using Driver Sweeper
    • Took a look at this question which seems severely outdated. I see no option in the NVIDIA Control Panel to add a custom resolution. Only NVIDIA official article about adding custom resolutions is from 2006.. After using Driver Sweeper, I am now able to define custom resolutions when I wasn't able to before. However:

Custom resolution using the NVIDIA Control Panel:

    Trying the Custom Resolution Utility:

I setup the resolution to be 1680 x 1050 yet, take notice that the format is almost 4:3 with black vertical bars on the left and right. It's hard to distinguish in the picture. I added in semi-transparent red lines to show approximately where the monitor edge is, not sure if this is helpful but figured I should. Here is the original image, if you want.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening, or how I can troubleshoot it? Like I said, it was fine before the driver update.

  3. Monitor Resolution reset after system restart

    Hi there,

I just bought a new 4k Monitor and added it to my system as primary monitor with my 1080p monitor as secondary. The problem I face everyday is when is start my system, the monitor resolution is reset. Earlier it used to reset my 4K monitor to 1080p and when
I check settings: Display Settings --> Scale and Layout it say 'A Custom Scale factor is Set'. To resolve it I had to log out and log in. After logging back the resolutions are fine and the Display Settings --> Scale and Layout 'A Custom Scale factor is Set'
is not 200%. But now from yesterday my resolution of 1080p display is getting changed to 4k on system restart. Again I have to do the above steps mentioned to resolve it. This is really annoying, why does not Windows remember my 2 monitors resolution. It
would be really helpful if anyone can suggest the solution.

My system details if it helps to find solution:

OS - Windows 10 latest update

    Monitor 1 - LG 27UD68-B (set to 4K native)

    Monitor 2 - LG E2360V (set to 1080p native)

    Graphics Card - Nvidia GTX970
