    utility to convert MBR disk with Windows partitions to GPT?


    Does this utility exist?

    I've tried Minitool's free version, which claims to support MBR to GPT conversion, but I got a warning that the disk would not be bootable.

    I downloaded a trial of the paid Easeus partition manager and when I tried that conversion, I got an error message telling me to contact support.

    Any suggestions, besides the one where you copy off all partitions to another drive, then do the conversion, and then copy all partitions back?

    You need to convert the disk drive from GPT to MBR.

    Windows Installation

    On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. If you use MBR disk, you will receive this error message: Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. You can convert MBR to GPT and try it again.

    Converting drive to gpt without losing data is easy enough. Your issue is that the partitions will be set up as legacy bios, and to use gpt on OS drive, you need to convert install to uefi instead.

    It is doable but takes a little work.

    Post image of current disk partitions.
