v1909 Update interfering with v2004 update

A couple of hours ago I started updating a laptop from v1909 to v2004 using the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant.
When the installation reached 95% I got a separate notification that "updates are ready, restart your computer outside of work hours".
I checked and it is a Cumulative Update for version 1909.

Obviously not going to restart for the 1909 update. I just let Update Assistant finish, and I just restarted through the Assistant message.

This is a strange situation. I had checked for and installed v1909 updates just prior to doing the v2004 update. The Cumulative Update was not in that batch.

By the time you read this I may already know the answer. It's "Working on Updates - 2%" now. But in the meantime does anyone think this is going to be a horror show, or will the v1909 update just get ignored?

    :)

    1. Does Windows 10 v2004 fix the driver problems caused by v1909 on many older PCs?

    2. If you don’t know the answer, can you answer this:
will I be able to update to v2004 from v1809 and still be able to roll-back to (currently installed) v1809 if v2004 fails to run on my PC?

Why is my Win10 v1903 upgraded to v2004 and not to v1909?

My Win10 v1903 system is upgraded directly to v2004.

Why isn't it upgraded at first to v1909 ?

How can I tell Win10 for the next feature update to step forward only 1 version and NOT 2 (=not to skip one version)?

Windows update powershell query breaks in windows 10 v2004

Query to fetch last successful windows update installation breaks in windows 10 v2004. It fetches 01-01-1601 00:00:00

This used to work in v1909.

Try following in powershell on windows 10 v1909 and v2004

    Code:
    $windowsUpdateObject = New-Object -ComObject Microsoft.Update.AutoUpdate$windowsUpdateObject.Results
