Windows 10: VCRUNTIME140_API.dll missing error in Visual Studio

I created a simple dll and dll client C++ console programs in Visual Studio Community 2017 15.8.4 following the steps on this link:

Walkthrough: Creating and Using a Dynamic Link Library


When I try to run the client program (either in debug or release mode) I get an error: VCRUNTIME140_API.dll was not found.

I have some other console app programs in VS 2017 and they all run just fine, no error error like this.

Any help would be appreciated

Those DLL files could have been deleted or corrupted in some way. Sometimes, .dll errors can indicate a problem with the Windows registry, a virus or malware issue, or even a hardware failure.

We suggest
Uninstalling Visual Studio and download it from
here. Then, try to reinstall Visual Studio 2017.

I suggest that you perform the steps below and check if it helps resolve the issue.

• Uninstall all those apps (using revo uninstaller) which are giving you msvcr100.dll and msvcp100.dll files missing error
• Open the link below

And download and install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4.

3. Download VSU_4\vcredist_x64.exe if you’ll be installing this on Windows 10 64bit.

4. Download VSU_4\vcredist_x86.exe if you’ll be installing this on Windows 10 32bit.

"Missing" MSVCP100.dll, MSVCP110.dll, MSVCR110.dll after Visual Studio update

Hello all,

I am using Windows 10. I just updated Visual Studio Community 2017 to Version 15.1, 26403.7 Release. Following this, I have been receiving various error messages that three specific DLLs could not be found. These are MSVCP100.dll, MSVCP110.dll, and MSVCR110.dll.

Unfortunately, the other solutions available here, such as installing Visual C++ redists, have not helped me. Moreover, the three DLLs that are "missing" are actually present in my System32 folder.

If it offers any more insight, the apps that are providing these messages are mainly games.

I appreciate any help that anyone may be able to provide.
