Windows 10: Version 1703 Update Issues

Yesterday my Windows 10 laptop finished applying the following updates:

2017-11 Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64 based Systems (KB4049011)

2017-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64 based Systems (KB4048954)
2
017-11 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64 based Systems (KB4048951)

Update history states that these have been successfully installed.

Since the updates my internet download speed and latency are 10 - 40 kps with a latency of typically +6000ms, prior to the upgrade the download and latency were typically 2.4 Mps and 75ms. I have isolated the internet connection and using my macbook pro or my iPad I can connect at 2.3Mps and 75ms, so the issue is with the laptop.

The system will not allow me to roll back to the previous build so I'm at a loss what to do. My knowledge of computers is limited to .... its got a keyboard and screen what it does beyond that is somewhat of a mystery.

Simple advice would be greatly appreciated

Various windows issues on new pc(mostly slow)

I recieved the latop with 1703 version. The problem was present from 1703 version. I assumed it would have been solved with the 1709 version and had updated. So i don't think going back to 1703 will solve the issue.

Lenovo is a godsend !

Problem solved>

1. Gave them access

2. Stopped the Update

3. Disabled Automatic Windows Updates

Can install them manually at a later date when more compatible drivers are issued.

Version 1703 and possibly 1607 are not compatible with my system just yet.

Can do a recovery (Rollback) to a previous version that came with the laptop. Same line of thinking as Andres solution above.

*Turns out that even Brand new Laptops with current up to date drivers are not necessarily compatible with some Windows 10 Versions.

 

Hi, I'm using that build and received those updates. Just checked- my internet is fine.

One thing I noticed was that when I checked my Update History, one Win update - after 2 restarts- still said it was pending a restart. I had to uninstall one and let it reinstall. But you say all are ok.

It is possible to uninstall most individual updates if you wished to try that.

It looks as if there were two:
KB4048954, KB4049011

 

Hi, the update history says everything was fully installed.

I've just deleted KB4048954 from the Uninstall Updates however KB4049011 will still not allow me to delete it, there is no delete option, so if I can find out how to do that it would be great to establish whether this is causing the issue

If you could step me through how to delete KB4049011 that would be great

If you have either a suitable System Restore point or a previously created disk image (we constantly recommend using disk imaging routinely) you could go back that way.

You might like to check if you had a driver update to your NIC in Device manager (check the date). And whilst there, check for yellow triangles, and also a driver update.

You can also rt click your network icon and click Troubleshoot....

Then you could check ping times to your server and DNS.
E.g. DNS jumper: Dns Jumper - A Free DNS Changer
(You can search for how to do that.. I'm not really sure it would be so useful).

 

Thanks for the assistance, checked all drivers ... they are unto date. I've decided to do a complete re-install, I have all the relevant data on back-up, hopefully this may cure the problem
