Windows 10: Vertical White Bar in Notification Area After 14271

Immediately after upgrading my Insider's copy of Windows 10 to build 14271 I noticed a vertical white bar in the notification area. See the screenshot:





As you can see, it has a little arrow pointing to the right. If I rest my pointer on the bar, no tooltip appears. If I click on the bar, it moves to the left and now the little arrow inside points to the left.

Any ideas what the heck this is?

vertical taskbar width

I like my taskbar vertical and on the left edge of the screen. Without explanation it has become wider, such that there are 3 columns of icons in the notification area. I attempt to drag the right edge of the bar to make it narrower, but it won't move.

Is there any way to make this thing do what I want it do?

 

Windows 10 media player cannot change video border color.

That's great to change the vertical border's colour - but it doesn't alter the colour of the bar at the top of the screen, which remains a distracting white.

Hello Bulldog,

This is a known bug in build 14271 for the taskbar notification area. You can turn off Always show all icons in the notification area to fix this for now until a new build is released again. *Smile
