    Thanks for your help, Hydrate. You're probably right... what led me to the resetting proper ACLs was some peculiar error messages in the Windows log files indicating an inability to access these files.

    Wouldn't rule out a bug in Visual Studio, tho, since it's still a fairly new release.

    I'll at least post here if the reinstall of Acronis proves to be trouble free.

    Hi. I just had the exact same problem and thanks to this thread, uninstalling Acronis True Image 2017 solved the problem. To the OP or anyone else, did you ever reinstalled the program? I am hesitant to do so.

    Forget Acronis, go with Macrium Reflect (free or Premium).
