    Very slow browsers

I have a problem with slow browsers, all of them, this is the scenario I will enter a search in Google and the initial search will come up fairly quickly but if I want to then choose one of the results from my search I get the eternal blue circle going round top left of screen and it may eventually get through but often I get the message “cannot find page" or it just times out I do a lot of Genealogy work and when you have a resident program like Family Tree Maker which syncs with an online version it’s not too much of a problem as you sync the tree at the end of a session but with FindMyPast the content is all online so every time you enter new info it will take ages before you can carry on and again it times out.
I wondered if it could be the DNS server or is there any other cause I have had Norton check my firewall and that was ok other helpful people have suggested I clear my cache etc. most pretty useless I am afraid, any ideas

    :)

  3. very slow browsers

further to my post I have checked if I had the same trouble accessing the web via my iPad and I do not, so the trouble must be with my computer what could be causing this? as I have said previously I can search and get the result I was searching for but
selecting from the list it all grinds to halt and then times out.

Have you try the same web site(s) with Google Chrome, IE 11 and Edge? or Perhaps Firefox?
Does the slow occur in all browsers or just localized in one browser, for example, IE 11?

I want to find out whether this is a wed site problem or browser problem!

Clearing your cache I won't do that to often. It slows up the browser (Firefox 45 64 bit beta 10) is my experience. Does Norton have safebrowser option? I always turn that off. Slows the browser.

  7. Is this on wireless or a hard wired computer? Also, if you have another computer, how does that behave when using the internet? If it is specific to just that computer, you could try to put google's dns of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 on your networking card and see if that helps.

    1. That is fine, let's focus on one browser you use so we can help you? Pick your browser so we can help.

    2. What is your Internet speed? Can you run a speed test using speedtest.net and let us know your download speed and upload speed?

    3. IE 11 is bundled with Windows 10. Did you uninstall IE 11?

    4. When you talk about slow, what response range you are talk about? Are they in range of 5, 10, 15, 30, 60, 90 or 120+ seconds?

    5. I assume you use the wired connection rather than Wire-Less?

Yes the browsers are slow, why? I have reinstalled Chrome and Firefox (two I use), they both seem slow sporadically.
I did notice when I benched internet speeds, the download was sub-par and the upload was high (20/12). No explanation for this. Std wired network, provider says 30/5

    1. Firefox 45.0.1
    2. I have 30/5, main comp does 34/6. This one 24/5, but I've seen the upload as high as 15.
    3. Don't know, I'll remove it if I can, guess I'll also remove Edge if possible.
    4. Sporadic pages that normally load 3-5 seconds will take 20 or 30.

It really seems like 10 is doing other/extra stuff while I'm browsing, not sure though.

I am now getting the impression that all browsers have faults with win 10. I have been trying all the main ones plus a few that are not so well known. I have different problems with different browsers. (eg) Flight radar 24 does not work with FF (panels dont open) but works fine in Chrome. (I have fedback this). Other browsers, too many differences to remember right now. I eagerly await someone to come along and say "HEY" I work properly, all the time" .............................................

I think I may made some progress with my laptop on the home network. I removed IE11.
Also removed the following from the Windows "suite"
    Internet Information Services
    Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server
    SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support
    Windows Process Activation Service

I was getting sporadic poor performance with any browser, these items are mostly for legacy technology and features I don't use.
Laptop seems to be back to how it ran with 7.
