    Hello,

I have bought about one year ago a Dell Inspiron 5559 (intel core I7-6500 U CPU @ 2,50 GHz 2,60 GHz. I bought a Windows 10 Pro license.

From the begining the computer was extremely slow, even in the startup phase.

I started researching the problem and ended up reinstalling the windows.

As it didn't help much, I researched some more and saw that the disk was runnning at 100% (in task manager - disk performance). After exploring multiple options, I bought an ssd and reinstalled the windows on it. Now the disk is running at 30-40% with spikes to 99-100%.

I tried defragmenting it, scanning for viruses, updating windows daily, manually updating all drives in device manager, uninstalling the useless apps, and so on. Nothing helped.

Start up takes over 60 seconds to the log on screen and another 10 to go over it. If I click start and type something it just lags for a few seconds. The browsers (no matter which of them, all multiple times fresh installed) are moving so slow that they are almost useless.

I looked into device manager for errors and there were sometimes problem with the battery. I removed it from the laptop but the problem still persisted. Sometimes after removing and reattaching the battery, it seems to work for a few minutes / hours. Than it starts again.

I would be very thankfull for any idea as I am very close to throw the laptop away.

    Thanks!

    :)

    windows 10 slow boot

I was having a slow boot issue on my Windows 7 install a little while back. It would take about 30 - 40 extra seconds to boot up for whatever reason.

I would try following these steps, while this didn't solve my issue, it did increase Read/Write to where it should be.

    http://www.disk-partition.com/kb/tips-ssd-optimization-windows7-1.html

Looks to be similar to this: https://www.back2gaming.com/focus-story/ssd-optimization-for-windows-10-windows-8-and-8-1/

In the end, I had to reinstall my Windows 7 entirely to fix the booting issue. It was taking around 35 seconds to boot, and after the fresh install it takes about 7 seconds to boot.

[Solved] Windows 10 keeps reinstalling KB3119142

I noticed quite some time ago that KB3119142 (Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package) kept reinstalling itself for some reason. At least once daily. Sometimes up to several times a day. I just ignored it. It didn't seem to be doing any harm. And I figured they'd eventually fix it. Well...days turned into weeks, weeks into months, with no end to the problem in sight. It dragged on unsolved for at least the last few months. Literally reinstalling itself hundreds of(at least a hundred, felt like more) times in that period of time.

So I finally googled it a couple days ago. And just got around to fixing it today. Which appears to have worked. And it couldn't have been easier to do. I feel so stupid to have let it intimidate me for so long.*Oops! Very slow Windows 10 pro even after reinstall
Below are links to the thread that I got the fix idea from, and the official MS support info page for KB3119142(from which I quoted the above).

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
