Windows 10: Viability of 64 bit Windows re-install over 32 bit

I have an Acer Aspire notebook with the following specs;


* Intel U2700 1.3 Mhz CPU

* Bios v1.17

* VGA Bios Intel v1744

* Running Windows 10 Pro 1803 v17134.799

* 128 GB SSD drive


I resurrected the notebook from the back of my closet and in doing so I noticed, in the My PC Properties, that I am running 32-bit Windows on a x64 hardware. I know that I may not get a huge bump in performance by going 64-bit but at least I could bump up the RAM (currently 4 GB) and see some improvements, right?


I have several questions;


* Does it make sense to reinstall the 64-bit Windows OS or is this notebook too old/slow to attempt?

* Realistically, how much of a speed bump could I expect from a 64-bit OS and, say, 8 GB Ram? 16 GB?

* Although there is no need on either laptop, can I swap the "Pro" license from this notebook to my current "daily driver" notebook, which is running "Home"?


Right now, this notebook is a sandbox for me to play with, having said that I am not interested in Linux or Chromium OS as I would, ideally, like to pass this on to my spousal unit or child if I can get it a little more snappier (for ex. time from entering login password to operational usage of Windows is roughly 1 min).

Windows 32 bits to 64 bits

How do I install IE 32 bit and/or switch from 64 bit to 32 bit?

Windows 10: Internet Explorer

• You need to have Windows 10 64-bit(x64) to use this feature
• To check:
  • Click on Windows Key
  • Click on Settings
  • Click on System
  • On left panel click on About
  • On right panel check system type:
    • System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
      • That means you have Windows 10 64-bit
    • System Type: 32-bit operating system, x86-based processor
      • That means you have Windows 10 32-bit
• Internet Explorer
  • 32-bit(x86):
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe
  • 64-bit(x64):
    • C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe

Note:

• You cannot switch between Windows 10 32-bit to 64-bit. you need to re-install Windows 10 64 bit.
• To download Windows 10 64-bit:
  Microsoft - "Windows 10 - Download tool now"

If the system architect is 32 bit, then you can’t install 64 bit version of windows in it. I suggest you to run “winver” by pressing Windows + R, and check the version and bit.

There are some games that you can install it in 32 bit as well.

Windows 10 is the free upgrade for those users who has genuine key for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 , normally it doesn't require activation, it's gets activated automatically, in case if you face an issue with activation the you can get back to
us.
