Hello. In the last two days I have been experiencing multiple BSOD's with error message VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR, so here I am asking the community for suggestions on what to do because the **** online chat support from microsoft didn't help at all, even
though this is a licensed version of Win10 Home for which I paid when I bought my laptop.

I have checked that the drivers are up to date on the manufacturer's website. What should I try next ? The BSODs occur in a very random fashion, but usually when doing nothing except reading text on the monitor, without any input or noticeable processor/hdd
activity. I should mention that I use the laptop hooked to an external monitor. Didn't check if the error occurs when using the laptop screen because I almost never use the laptop this way.

Machine is an Asus Zenbook UX501JW with Nvidia GTX960M 4GB as dedicated video card.

 

35 BSODs since Nov. 2016: video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error

I am at a loss to solve my BSOD problem, which is occurring with increasing frequency. It is always the same error: video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error. It occurs randomly and without warning. After the BSOD, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M is hidden in the Device Manager and listed as not installed. Restarting the computer does not make the computer find the hidden NVIDIA card. However, the card reappears and functions normally once the system is shut down totally and powered on again. BIOS and drivers should be up to date. Many thanks for any help that you can provide!

Driver error :VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR

So recently I got the November Update for Windows 10. Running Windows 10 build 10240 I started the upgrade and then at around 55% it hits me with a bsod VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR

and restores my previous installation. I tried it again but the bsod comes again at the same percentage. Now i figured that this usually caused due to drivers so i kept all my drivers upto date (which I did previously also). Ready for the installation I check
for updates and it says I am up to date! waited for few days and checked again but no updates available. Still on build 10240 decided to use the media creation tool and started the upgrade but the bsod returns.

I have a HP n003tx with a nvidia 740M and 6GB of ram.

Any help is appreciated.
