Don't be so sensitive mate...its a long weekend. Relax. *Biggrin

The poll was originally published in the Chillout Room as a light-hearted jibe.

Maybe I should I re-publish it with my original intention for the 4th option : "Im a Luddite - I prefer to stay with the new Windows XP" *Cool

Wow! That is a vote of confidence with bravery as others stated. You must like it a lot.

I'll be dual booting with 8.1 as soon as I get my machine up and running again. The PSU is going south it seems. Teetering between a new machine or pumping money into this older Acer. Don't want to chase good money after bad. On one hand 7, 8, and 8.1 ran great so can't justify a new system there. On the other a new larger PSU to get into multi monitors and upgrading with a video card. A fine line between the two. The big question is whether or not I can live with the Intel duo core and 2GBs maxed memory.

Decisions, decisions! I'll have to add it all up and compare to a new system.

    Hi there

Once I can sort out how to fix the network access FROM Linux to W10 (it works the other way around W10==>Linux) then W8.1 is GONE.

I like W10 -- you can still use custom toolbars if you like and I'm sure the wretched small (tiny / microscopic) size of the text on the start menu will be fixed before final release.

Note though if you LIKE metro apps there's no METRO IE yet - theree's full screen - but do you really want IE in full screen especially if you are comparing different websites etc.

So messing around with VM's and networking this afternoon - but will definitely keep this as a main OS.

    Cheers

  6. I'm going to rebuild my PC when the Skylake platform is released in a year or so. I'll install Win 10 as my sole OS at that time.

I burned a DVD of the Tech Preview and had toyed with the idea of putting it on a spare drive in an external dock just to check it out, but I'll more likely just rely on reading reports here rather than installing it before it's available at retail.

  7. Well last night to triple boot 10 with 7 $ 8.1 and for some bizarre reason I could either boot to Ten or 7 & 8.1 but not all off them. Seems like the 10 bootloader messes up the 7 & 8.1. So to get my main OS back I had to remove the drive with 10 on and run a repair to fix the boot options. Fixed in Easy BCD so I got my 8.1 and 7 back. So ATM I am running an older PC with it as a full blown OS and will decide whether to upgrade 8.1 to 10 in the next day or two on my main PC. I want to use it as my main OS on my main PC but I don't want any downtime either.

I would watch out for the win-10 boot loader if any real issues you be stuck,
Keep or switch win-7 as default os or even possible 8 but not 10 *Wink

From what I've read if you need to restore a system image it's much better using 7 to do it *Smile

I have installed W10 on a third SSD in my tower. I will learn it only because my customers will need my help with the learning curve when they upgrade XP, Vista or 8.1 to this OS. It's definitely superior to W8.1.

Personally, I like the straight forward Start Menu (customizable) in Windows 7. I have a feeling that Windows 7's extended 'product support life cycle' will be protracted to January 2025 (similar to XP). I just don't see corporations embracing anything like W8/8.1 and W10 - ever. Microsoft keeps trying to tell the productive desktop user "what they want". That's not how it should be and thankfully they are allowing feedback in much simpler manner with the W10 Preview version.

As long as we productive folk can disable Tiles and have a classic Start Menu option, I'll be more likely to advocate the OS.

I'm using Win10 on my Del Vostro 1000. It's my main laptop. I must say and give credit to Dell for making the Vostro a very flexible machine. It was pre-installed with XP Home when purchased in 2007. Since then, I installed CentOS 5, CentOS 6, Fedora 17, Fedora 20 (USB boot), Windows 7 RC, Windows 7 Pro, and now Windows 10 TP. Never a hitch. And recently bumping the RAM to 4GB, Win10 is justa' humming. Love it! I'm definitely moving to this OS when released. I hope MS prices the product the right way.

Well, I ran 10 in a VM for a few days, long enough to know that it's a keeper. Loaded up the disk, cleaned the drive with diskpart and installed it on its own drive. This is going to be fun *Wink

Im currently running it full time on my main computer, but since I have a macbook with Yosemite, today's agenda is to see if it will work in BoootCamp along side it. *Smile Have the Windows 7 drivers, which should be compatible with Windows 8x.

Straight to 10 on the MacBook. *Smile Should work, or be a challenge at the least. View Poll Results: How do you plan to use Windows 10? :p
