Without going into a rant about how buggy v1709 had been, I just decided I had to roll back and install 1703.
I decided to defer the upgrade to a year. Don't care, I will not install 1709 until they fix some of the issues I had been facing.

So my question is and this would be also a sort of a poll here. How many of you agree on my decision here? Just curious what you all here think. Would it be good just to wait out some the bugs that 1709 has?

But personally, the Falls Creators was just buggy...

And how many of you decided not to go along with the 1709?

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Sign the petition?!

so karim, will we see Nokia act on the results or was the poll just posted for a bit of fun to gauge everyones view on this subject?

i mentioned earlier that Series 60 version 3, feature release 1 has the ability to have the F/W updated by the user so will we see this option included in future handsets? even if only a small number of people wanted to do this by themselves, it would still
    save nokia time and money?

    Hi Rich!

This poll isnt just a bit of fun, I was hoping to stimulate a bit of discussion on the subject. The results from the poll are interesting, it is not the landslide that many people who visit here were expecting. With on %59 of people actively seeking firmware
updates this still leaves a large group of owners who would require some assistance on updating their firmware, with two days to go the results could change either way. And again, this only gauges the opinion of people who visit these discussion boards - there
will be many many Nokia owners who have not read this post.

But, this poll isnt the official Nokia standpoint of firmware installation. The poll and this thread are what you, the users think and feel.

Carry on and make posts here to discuss this, and feel free to make a vote. The poll will close on Friday afternoon. I will collate the results and put them in this thread for further discussion.

    Cheers

    -

    Karim

I had to roll back to 1703 twice because it kept giving me Blue Screen while Installation process. Windows tech advice me to wait till next month since my Lapto Asus Rog Strix have compatibility issues with 1709.

  7. I have problems with my PC not waking up from sleep but as far as when I ran it , it was faster than 1703 and more secure. After the update tomorrow I am going back to 1709 and just shut off my PC. Since all current PC's are affected by this Intel thing , I have nothing to lose. I will get a new PC or build one in about 9 months. They should have this problem resolved by then.

My desktop and laptop are both on 1709. I use my desktop in my recording studio. No problems.

  10. While I have 1709 on several PCs, my laptop does not handle it well; while in contrast, it handles 1703 without any problems.

So, for me, I will wait until the next major Win10 "version" comes out (in the Spring?) to see how well the laptop handles that.

I had only minor issues with one desktop (minor configuration annoyances) and none with a laptop.
The laptop moved from CU to FCU.
The desktop moved from Anniversary to FCU (skipping CU entirely).

I've heard about problems such as:
    • Won't install
    • Won't boot (laid a brick)
    • Settings screens don't work
    • Setting screens work, but they're different now
That's why I skipped CU and for a long time deferred FCU on my new desktop.

But all's well now ... unless I've not yet seen any lurking problems that might arise later.
For anyone who has FCU running ... can you comment on the problems you've encountered?
