There is no doubt in my mind that I will upgrade to Windows 10. I've been using Windows since 2.0 and that even included Windows Millennium (which I actually liked). Windows 10 should be a winner and I suspect many will jump to it when the word gets out.

I will upgrade but like all installations, I would like to perform a clean installation as a basis to create images from.

I'm sure MS will have a way for system builders to legally install Windows 10 on a new computer without the need to install a older version of Windows first.

Sure they will . . . it's called money. *Smile I'm pretty sure system builders have plenty of ways to get the update for their clients.

Since Windows 7 is still supported one can build a new system using it and then upgrade .

Then they will have to release a retail version. The real question should be how much will it cost.

Since they are giving free upgrades to Win 8, 8.1 and 7 users it may cost allot. MS has to make up the money in some way , other than the app store.

I'm sure MS has something up their sleeve.

Yep, especially since there're a lot of folks still on Windows XP and MS has said no free upgrade for them. There will also be many folks whose systems will croak on them, if not sooner, then later. If they can't build their own, they'll need to buy a new one with an OEM copy of Windows 10.

I don't know how many large system builders are out there, but offhand I can think of HP, Toshiba, Lenovo, Dell. And then there're the small "mom and pop" companies . . .

Microsoft seems to be doing its best to do away with all hardware media and going to download only, but although I have tried to figure out a way they can do that, it just won't quite compute. The more I think about it, the more I believe there will just have to be some type of media to at least install Windows with.

There are just too many folks who still don't have a fast Internet service. Also, there are more and smaller laptops that will come without a DVD drive. Tablets don't have DVD drives, do they? Certainly mine don't, but then they're 'droids. So . . . I'm back at square one, wondering what the next computers will be like.

My reasons for this are a bit different. I like to test out the new technology prior to release so that I can offer help to others by the time the RTM is released.
I have just recently upgraded my Win8.1 installation to Win10 and am now using it full-time.
I had no problems with the upgrade, but am having problems with my browser (Firefox).
When first logging on in the morning it seems to take forever for pages to load and allow me to interact with them.

EDIT: Just found 34 instances of Flash running in Task Manager *Sad

Uninstall and reinstall Firefox just like what most of us do with Win 10 itself when not working properly .... clean install.

  15. At the moment I only have a Laptop running W8.0. Since it is my only machine I don't want to risk even updating to W8.1. Later when I get some desktops one may be designated the "guinea pig PC" at which time I may throw W10 on it if I can install from ISO for free.
