    Virus or drive problem??


    A few days ago I downloaded something and realized I can't delete an empty folder. I kept deleting the file with the antivirus software, but it kept coming back. On my desktop, it also shows empty spaces in-between the application as if there are softwares. After restarting my computer a few times and running virus scan (it didn't find anything), I was able to delete the file and get rid out of the empty spaces. However, now I see a corrupted file under devices and drives and it won't go way after I deleted it and would come back everytime I refresh the interface.

    How can I remove this virus remnant?

    I was also going to suggest Autoruns.

    Check to make sure it isn't attaching itself to explorer. It should be the 3rd thing listed in Autoruns, the listing for the Shell. It should just be Explorer.exe. If it is anything else, that might be your problem.

    Need some advice on computer problems.

    Run HDtune (free version) on you hard drive. but most likely that the problem. You can also test your memory with Memtest86 as suggested above
