Windows 10: VLC player audio bug (20H2 update)

Basically the audio in VLC player is on 0% when firing up a local video file every single time. To restore it I have to click on the audio tab > audio devices and click default (which is already selected) and then audio is restored to the set volume 70%

Other than that the update went nicely (from 1909) Not sure what is causing this bug, but I've tried all the different sound settings in the program and Windows sound settings to no avail.

Only thing I can do now is leave VLC open instead of fully closing it to prevent the muted audio. I'm using headphones and Dolby Atmos.

VLC Media Player Question?


I am looking for the object code for windows using VLC media player on my website. ~just for audio ~ VLC was suggested by Microsoft. I found a code that was really long and wrong ~ lots of redundancy..it was poorly written. I know there is a shorter better version out there. I now have the object code for windows media play ~ that is now defunct ~ does not work on windows10~. So far, I have had minimal support and the wrong 800 number from microsoft for VLC. No 800 number on VLC website. No online chat. they did provide an email address. If Microsoft is not supporting windows 10 with an updated media player ~ it is really unfortunate. They have simply dropped the ball. Any help out there?

VLC Player

No, alas it is not resolution. I have no idea why but the taskbar remains on top with VLC player on just one PC. It obscures part of the video. I tried wiping VLC off the machine, which worked correctly because all the settings were reset, but it has failed to fix the problem. I am however starting to think that this is a problem with Windows and not VLC.

Correction! It was a VLC issue. I have no idea how I fixed it, but it has gone. LOL!

Never mind, lol, it's not solved. However, I did find ONE post on the internet that mentioned that this is a problem can happen with VLC on 4K displays. I downloaded a different player and the issue has gone. I guess for the moment just have to accept there is a bug in VLC.
