VLC player audio issue (after 20H2 update)

Basically the audio in VLC player is on 0% when firing up a local video file every single time. To restore it I have to click on the audio tab > audio devices and click default (which is already selected) and then audio is restored to the set volume 70%

Other than that the update went nicely (from 1909) Not sure what is causing this bug, but I've tried all the different sound settings in the program and Windows sound settings to no avail.

Only thing I can do now is leave VLC open instead of fully closing it to prevent the muted audio. I'm using headphones and Dolby Atmos.

Ditto on that. Don't know why people still insist on VLC. If you didn't already install the MadVR plugin then try it.

Setup takes a little work. You'll need to download madVR and unzip it somewhere safe (you can't delete the folder later);run Install.bat as an administrator; run madHcCtrl.exe to access your settings.

Choose madVR as the video renderer in PotPlayer

Once that's out of the way, madVR will be used for all playback, and you can start trying out its various processing, scaling and rendering options.

    VLC issue

I just installed a new video card last night, and everything seems to be working fine.
I've got the latest drivers, software updates, blah blah blah.
    Except...

when i play a show/movie whatever in VLC, and i click to fullscreen the video file, the screen goes blank for a few seconds (3 to 4) before it comes back on. The audio also goes out as well (although thats probably because i'm using the audio pass-through feature of my video card).
    This has never happened before.
I've updated VLC to the latest version, and re-installed it after i installed the new video card.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    vista vlc player and xvid

anyone got vlc player to play an xvid in vista? when i tried it today i get solid colors that fade in and out. very odd because the audio is clear. so obviously some video issue. im using the latest codecs. the xvid plays fine in media player but i prefer vlc because it is a lot lighter and stream 1080p movies smoothly.
