Is that the laptop in your specs Bob?

You can go into the BIOS and check that Virtualization is enabled, but looking at this thread,

IdeaPad Z710: virtualization support broken - Lenovo Community

    Doesn't look promising.

You could try the 32bit instead, since I don't think you need VT enabled for that.

  3. I agree with Derek, 32bit is probably the best way to go and from a tech preview point of view running in a VM i don't think you will be losing out on anything.

Derek, yes it is the same one.
I got out of that window. This is what I have now.

Note in the top pic, there is only Win 10 listed.

In the bottom pic, when I click OK, it will go to the pic in post #29.

OK, instead of clicking OK, just close that little window using the red X and see if you can close down VMware to check your BIOS if you want, or just delete that VM and try the 32bit.

  6. I deleted the VM and D/Ling the 32 bit version of Win 10.

What am I looking for in the BIOS ? Mind you, I don't know how to get into it on this 'puter.

  7. It look's like the 32 bit will install.

Do I still have to turn off Secure Boot first ?

If I do how do I find it ?

Looking at derekimo's link, it seems that the issue was raised back in March. You might wanna look up if there is a firmware update for your motherboard to address this virtualization issue on your computer.

You shouldn't have to turn off secure boot. Looking at that thread I linked on the Lenovo forum, I wouldn't even bother looking in the BIOS for now.

Let's just get a VM setup for you first, I would just go with the 32bit.

What made you think you needed to turn off secure boot? I don't have UEFI but with a VM I don't think you need to mess with that.

  10. The VM is set-up and the 32 bit is installing now. Appears to be going smoothly.

I read the warning in the Tutorial for 10 clean install, the only reason for asking about "secure boot". Did not do anything with it and install is going fine.
I did skip step 10 in the tut. as I did not think it applied to a VM.

I will give an update in a bit.

  12. OK Derek, good to go now. Install went real good, everything work's as it should so far.
Might be just me, but it doe's not look too much different from 8.1.1 stuff.

Alright, glad you got it Bob. It is pretty similar to 8.1.1, some new stuff that isn't overly obvious. I'm still seeing new stuff occasionally.

I got it installed on Oracle's VBox and to tell you the truth,
it's awful so, I decided to install it on my other notebook (G73)
via a dual boot. Works absolutely well. W 10 even installed
updated drivers for the hardware that the W7 install doesn't
    have.
    Impressed.

  15. I used the VMware and no problems after I got the 32 Bit to install.
Never asked for any drivers at all. Runs well so far.
