Windows 10: Voice chat software destroys all audio

Immediately upon entering any voice chat software, all audio on my PC "breaks." My microphone stops detecting any sound, and my speakers stop making any sound. The only way to get audio back is restarting my computer.

After restarting, I can check my microphone in the sound control panel, and it shows that its detecting sound again. It even plays back my voice. But once I enter any voice chat software, (Discord, Discord on browser, Skype, Teamspeak, built in Blizzard chat) all hell breaks loose and everything stops working again until next restart.

I'm running my microphone through a presonus audiobox 96.

As far as troubleshooting, I have reinstalled my voice chat software, reinstalled audio drivers, tried every USB port, tried both XLR ports, checked all audio knobs, and allowed programs to take exclusive control of my microphone. I plugged my interface into another computer, tried Discord and it worked perfect.

I can't imagine what I'm missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Audio popping from videos and voice chat software


As the description says, I am getting some audio popping/crackling from internet videos (html5, flash etc.) and voice chat programs like skype or razer comms. I play a lot of games and there doesn't seem to be any popping into game audio. I will say that I've been looking into some common problems with this issue and I can say that my video card driver, network card driver, BIOS are all up to date as these are known to be common culprits of this problem. I've also installed LatencyMon to try and track any DPC latency spikes and after leaving it for 15 minutes or so, it only capped at around 700 latency, and usually was steady on 200 latency, so it doesn't seem like its a latency issue. This started happening after I formatted onto windows 10 from windows 7, as this was not an issue when I was running my computer on windows 7. Any suggestions to resolve this issue would be appreciated.

 

360 Voice Chat Question

But when your using Ventrilo etc, I take it your using an headset???? Which would mean your getting game audio and voice audio through the headphones on the headset???? You can do this with the 360 by getting a 3rd party stereo headset. What your doing with the 360 seems kind of strange anyway. I couldnt imagine playing a team based game like Call Of Duty and having to shout out orders at a mic on the Kinect *Wtf :wtf:

MS used to give you an headset for chat with the console, but it seems you dont get it with the 4GB (but you do with the 250GB) *Frown

PS: like I said, once you have an headset, official (chat audio only) or 3rd party (ingame + chat audio) you can change the audio level for the game and voice seperately anyway.

 

360 Voice Chat Question

No I don't use a headset with Vent or Skype while gaming on my PC. It's not a problem because of the Communications settings where you can reduce volume of other sounds when Windows detects communications activity. I was hoping the 360 had something similar considering the feature is in Windows.
