  1. Volume in drive C is reserved by system

I'm trying to access the directory of my drive C through the cmd (with administration), but instead I get "Volume in drive C is reserved by system".

I can access drive D very easily.

Any suggestions how I may access it?

    :)

Windows Couldn't update the system reserved partition

What is your operating system version and build?

What troubleshooting steps have you made?

Open administrative command prompt and run: C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther

Search for these log files and post with onedrive or a cloud link.
    setupact.log
    setuperr.log

    In administrative command prompt run:

    1) diskpart
    2) list disk
    3) select volume 0
    4) list volume
    5) select volume 1
    6) list partition
    7) select volume 2
    8) list partition
    9) select volume 3
    10) list partition
    11) select volume 4
    12) list partition
    13) exit

Please copy and paste into the post.

  3. files and volume -c drive

    Hi Michael,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

    I will definitely assist you.

To understand the issue better, I would like to know the exact location Path of the empty folder?

When you install Windows on C:\ drive system reserved will automatically create. I recommend do not delete the system reserved volume.

The empty folder which is located on C:\ drive might be system file. If you want to delete or clean the folder I would suggest you to perform disk clean up, it will automatically clean the drive. Visit the below link for Disk clean up

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/...up#delete-files-using-disk-cleanup=windows-10

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance with Windows, let us know and will be glad to help.

Volume in drive C is reserved by system

    System & Reserved almost full?

Thank you for the information and posting back.

High System & Reserved memory usage could be due to the following:

    • High Windows.old file(s) size
    • Large cache of trace files size
    • Windows 10 system file issues

We would like to know some information to better isolate the issue:

    • Do you have a C:\windows.old folder on your C: drive?
    • Which Windows version and build are you using? Type winver on search box and press
      Enter.
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • Can you post a screenshot of what is inside the System & reserved storage? Double-click System & reserved. See picture below for reference.
