Windows 10: Volume, wifi and battery icons not working/responding???

The volume, wifi, and battery icons recently stopped working / responding on my laptop.

Fixes I've tried: 1) Multiple restarts of the laptop 2) Restarting explorer.exe 3) Ending the explorer.exe task and running it again 4) System restore (which keeps failing) 5) Different restore points (all kept failing for some reason)

Prior to this issue, windows updated and added some new windows features (not sure what they are)

I have updates blocked at router level so I don't even know how or why they were able to install, but this is the first time I'm experiencing this issue with the icons not responding, I tried every fix I've found on google/youtube and none of them have worked.

Missing Date and Time, volume and Battery Icons

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if this helps:

• Right click on the task bar and you will get a popup menu.
• Click on properties.
• Under behavior of system icons select ON for volume icon, Date and Time icon and Battery icon to always show.
• Click OK.

Volume controls on keyboard not working, and battery charging icon missing

The battery icon might be hidden. We suggest that you follow the steps below to enable the Power option:

• Type quick actions in the search bar and click on Choose your quick actions.
• Click on Turn system icons on or off.
• Turn On the Power option.
  

If the issue persists, update the driver software.

• Go to device manager:
• Right click on: Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
• Select: update driver software
• Click: search automatically
