    Hello everyone,

I am an user of Windows 10 and a couple months back my computer started randomly shutting down... I noticed that it happens randomly but periodically. It happens 3x times a week on average and Its really annoying. I managed to find the error which could be related to this problem.

Can somebody help me out? I am so desperate and mad at the same time because I cannot work on a PC which tends to shut down..

Thank you all for your answers in advance

    regards

    Dave S.

PS: here is a log which is displayed when I open event viewer:

  2. VSS Event 13 Shutdown

    hi.

My pc is shutting down intermittently, but more frequently of late. A check of the event log shows a VSS event id 13 error causing a system shutdown. Right now i cant even get passed the log in screen. Booting into safe mode is my only option.

    Any help?

  3. Windows 10 VSS Event ID 13

    Hi,

I recently got this error, and haven't found a similar question asked. If anyone knows if this is serious or how to fix I would love to hear it, of course.

    VSS Event 13 Shutdown

Hi Barry. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

What version are you on? This CryptSvc bug was supposedly fixed in Version 1903-1909.

See how to fix it here from Safe Mode:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/vss-event-lo...

Then when you can start normally manually upgrade to the latest version by opening the Media Creation Tool from this link:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...
, choose Download Tool Now, then open the tool and choose Upgrade This PC Now. This saves your files, apps and most settings in place, is the most stable method to change versions, brings your Updates current,
    resolves most problems.

If any problems report back the verbatim error and number, then continue with these steps for overcoming Version Upgrade problems:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

If the Version has problems you can go back to Version 1909 with media downloaded from Microsoft Tech Bench here:
TechBench by WZT (v4.1.1). Double click ISO to mount to run Setup, or Burn to DVD using WIndows Image Burner or create bootable flash using one of the options here:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-create...
, open media to run Setup.

Most problems are resolved by doing this gold standard Clean Install which should get you past all difficulties as it has millions of others who have followed the steps in this link and never come back to report another problem:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...
. So read it over and see if its something you want to learn to do.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you will wait to rate my post, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
