Windows 10: W10 Home 20H2 update KB4592438 Fails to Complete after 96% -0x800f0922

No obvious issues with internet connection during updates

Security Update for Windows KB4592438 has been failing to complete installation configuration for the last 10 days, despite retrying after doing all the suggested remedial actions I could find in my online searches. Error code 0x800f0922.

The download and installation itself completes in Windows Update, but during the configuration phase after the PC restart I get the message "We couldn't complete the updates. Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer" This is after configuration has reached 96%.

Remedial actions have included:
Windows Update Troubleshooter
DISM and System File Checker
Resetting Windows Update components and clearing Windows/Software distribution/Downloads folder
Installing the update manually from the software catalog (failed as already noted above with 0x800f0922)

(One possible error cause suggested was that I needed to have .net 3.5 active so I tried to activate it but failed dismally. Hopefully this isn't the root cause!!)

These actions have been tried repeatedly after each failure, in different orders and I'm getting a bit desperate

Any suggestions for a solution would be gratefully received.

tried all the normal fixes, no joy and of course you can't turn W10 Home Update off

recovery to a previous point is fine but then W10 trys to update again and you're into a LOOP

So, what's the fix?

 

KB4343909 Update Fails Error 0x800f0922

The KB4343909 Update fails per the Error 0x800f0922 each time it goes through the update process gets to 96% then reboots and the following Windows Message comes up:

We cannot complete the update
undoing changes
Don't Turn off your Computer

My Windows Pro Version is 1803 OS Build 17134.165 all other Updates are installed with no issues

After that completes the computer runs fine and the 0x800f0922 error message shows in the Windows Update Section this has failed 3 times. Each time when I go to shut down after this the options come up Update and reboot or Update and shut down and it continues to attempt to do the KB4343909 update. I have run the Reset Windows Update .bat file from the Forums it runs successfully however Windows continues to attempt the KB4343909 Update.......does it make sense to download the KB4343909 Standalone file from Microsoft and attempt the update in that method?

 

KB4471332 fails with 0x800f0922, EFI partition is over 500MB

I'm having trouble installing Windows 1809 update KB4471332, it's failing with the error 0x800f0922.

Having done some googling and searching here, many of the suggested solutions involve ensuring the EFI partition is 500MB or more. I encountered a similar issue a while ago and in doing so rebuilt the EFI partition (I had a drive clone gone bad, only the data partition was copied!) and resized it to make sure it was over 500MB. Since then I've had no issues. This is a 'repair install' also, having run the 1809 ISO a few weeks ago. (Having had no issues installing updates since. This is the first problem I'm having with this install)

I've also tried resetting Windows Update via the troubleshooter and clearing the softwaredistribution folder then attempting the update once more. I've even downloaded the standalone updater from the update catalogue. Each time it installs, reboots, gets to around 96% 'configuring update' after the reboot then says it was unable to complete the update and is reverting changes. Upon checking event viewer the error 0x800f0922 is logged.

Any help would be much appreciated!
