  2. Windows 10 PC keeps dropping its internet connection

Have 3 computers on network, 2 with W7 (desktop and laptop) and W10 laptop. Main computer (desktop) connected to ATT gateway. Others connected to surge protected connected to gateway.

W10 has no network connection. Followed instructions with message that driver(s) working correctly and are best for W10. Also, that no usable driver found. Uninstalled/restarted. Still no network connection.

Getting message that Ethernet is unplugged. Why is this since two W7 computers are not a problem. No problem with tablets on same network. W10 cord plugged into surge protected.

Have had new W10 laptop for 4 months and have only gotten about 10 weeks of use, If this laptop had not cost so much money (from my limited pension I would scrap it in a heartbeat).

Could the problem be with the cord from the laptop or the surge protected?

  3. Windows 10 Networking Problem

I have 4 computers, all assigned to “Workgroup.”

3 are W7. 1 is a new W10, just purchased. All are visible to each other in File Explorer.

The 3 W7 machines all connect with each other, successfully sharing files and network printers.

The new W10 machine connects with 2 of the W7 machines, sharing files and network printers.

When I try to connect to the remaining W7 machine from the W10 machine, I get a path not found error (x80070035).

Diagnosis of the error gives the following info:

"File and print sharing resource ([W7 machine in question]) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts. The remote computer isn't responding to connections on port 445, possibly due to firewall or security policy settings."

I checked the Windows firewall on both the W7 and W10 machines. Private and public inbound rules for file and print sharing (NB-Session-in and SMB-in) are enabled.

I turned off the firewall on both the W7 and W10 machines. No difference.

Finally I turned off antivirus for both the W7 and W10 machines. No difference.

    I'm stumped.

I doubt many people who value security/privacy are sticking with XP. Probably all thats left for xp are diehard fans of it & companies.

I see no surge, just steady, linear trends - up for Windows 10, and down for all other Windows:

  8. W10 Market Share Surge vs W7

Depends how you look at it.
I suspect a lot of businesses would love to have their product sales increasing at 2%/month (especially in the current economic environment).

For the last 2 months the number of W10 installs "detected" is double the long term rate of increase (i.e. from ~1%/month to ~2%/month).
This means it's harder to claim that it's just a one month anomaly (e.g. the 5% increase in August 2015).

It has surpassed peak market shares of the W8 Series and Vista (the two versions of Windows pretty much universally proclaimed as the worst ever).

Next months figures should be the interesting ones.
Will there be a huge jump in W10 installs or will it continue climbing at its current rate?

    Aside:
I also noticed that NetMarketShare quietly fixed up a typo in W10's April figures.
