Windows 10: W10 pro destroyed

Last month I bought a refurbished Dell OptiPlex desktop from a Microsoft authorized refurbished. W10 pro preinstalled. I was trying to harden security and activated the administrator, gave admin a password, then made me the user non admin. I figured I... as regular user would not have admin privileges unless I typed in admin password when asked.


I rebooted the machine as me... a limited user then tried to make a configuration change. Naturally I was prompted for the admin password, when i typed it in I was told it was incorrect. I double-checked and triple check passwords with what had been recorded. I was entering the right pass word but it was being rejected. I tried for a couple of weeks to get it fixed but now it had become a security issue.


I wiped the drive and installed a copy of Linux MX. It's a great machine with 16 gigs ram and works great. I just don't have $200 for a hard copy of W10 pro to reinstall.

My Question is below.


Are there any discount methods for veteran students to order a full copy of W10 pro to install on this other machine. I am a registerd MS account user with subscription to Office 365 and that machine was on my One drive account and as a matter of fact it still is showing on my one drive account but it's only running a Linux system now. I would some day like to change that and make W10 pro my main OS, and dual boot to Linux or run Virtual machines. That dell I'm talking about has all the right stuff for Virtual machines.


Also ...the seller did not and can not provide an installation CD for it.

moving W10 Pro license to another computer running W10 Home

I am a long time W10 Insider.

I had a Gateway NV79 running W10 Pro and it bellied up with on board battery issues and is non functional.

I want to move that Pro License to another W10 machine running home.

What are the steps/

Issues with W10 Mail App

• Did you add your fsnet.co.uk (POP3) address as an additional account in W10 Mail App?

I suggest you to remove the account and re-add it.

W10 Home > Pro

Question:

right now I made a bootable USB for W10, off my current installation which is a W10 Home.

Monday I'll use that on my new rig but I want to move to W10 Pro on that one. Is this possible with my bootable USB setup? My guess is that you just re-pick your version based on the activation code, amirite?
