Windows 10: W10 upgrade failed (error 80240020) - I didn't ask it to

Hi,

I got the little 'Get Windows 10' icon and reserved my copy, all fine. But it still doesn't actually say it can install, not sure why. But my laptop has now tried to install W10 5 times, without telling me it was going to or asking my permission. And all five times it has failed with error code 80240020. This is not my area of expertise and I don't know why it keeps doing this. I'm not even sure I want to install it; I only reserved it to see what everyone else thought and I figured I'd have some kind of say in the matter.

Basically, is it supposed to do this? And what can I do to fix it, either by stopping it trying or installing it properly?

Cannot upgrade to Windows 10 - Code 80246007

My upgrade from W7 Home to W10 Home failed first with error code 80240020 and then with error code 80249007.

I installed W10 successfully by downloading the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and selecting the "Upgrade this PC now" option.

 

Windows 10 Installation Failure

I have Windows 8.1 Home installed.

It is absolutely current in terms of Updates.

I reserved a Free Upgrade to W10 and the notification duly appeared in the Tray a few days into august.

I have tried everything under the bright yellow ball in the sky to update to W10 (by my count - EXACTLY 20 times)

When I say 'everything' I actually mean everything (my response was tailored to the particular error code and followed advice from the numerous forums on this subject including from the Microsoft Forums)

Nostalgia sets in when I think back to the happy times I have been 'frustrated' with something in my life - my current state is such.

However, to hope is human and....human I am.

I just know that several years ago a mother gave birth to an adorable baby destined for greatness - and I'm now waiting for him / her to come and deliver me.

Don't worry, it's not your mistake(at least it's not that you have done smt wrong), this failure belong to microsoft server or your internet connection. You can find the reasons and solution here
