  1. W10 upgrade from W7 breaks ethernet and wifi

I have an old but still excellent desktop, running Windows 7 very happily for the last five years. Finally I tried to "upgrade" this to Windows 10 only to find my Intel I712-V card and Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac wifi inoperative. No solution suggested on the web, including Miscrosoft's support sites, was able to help.

Having only then discovered how widespread this problem actually is, I have more to add. Rebooting the machine under Linux, I find that both cards were also inoperative. Only reverting to W7 cloned beforehand to another disc allowed the cards to work again.

The severity of this bug is surprising. In which case, my first question is: how was it possible for Microsoft's software quality control to defy what I take as basic coding protocol and apparently corrupt the firmware for these sub-systems, to make them unusable, even by a totally different OS? It's a miracle that W7 was able to set things right or my cards might have been trashed.

Second question: it is now since September last that this major bug seems to be going the rounds. When is Microsoft going to either: pull the "upgrade" altogether and recommend rolling back to an older W10 or, for W7 folk, at least to warn us PROMINENTLY of the risk to these Intel and Broadcom cards??

    :)

    W7 to W10 upgrade

I have tried to upgrade to W10 home premium from my 64-bit W7 home premium operating system on my laptop. I checked that I meet all requirements and have tried everything anyone ever suggested. I wasted 2 days in December 2015, and still failed.

I had no problem in March 2016 upgrading my desktop W7 Ultimate to W10, so I thought I might try again to upgrade my W7 home premium.

I have now wasted another 2 days in March trying to upgrade the laptop. Either it is a problem with my laptop that the Windows Update Trouble-Shooter does not find, or W7 Home Premium (64) will not upgrade to W10. I give up.

  3. Network driver 'lost' on upgrade from W7 to W10

Just unpacked a new PC (HP Workstation) with W7. Installed OK and everything worked, without issue. Got W7 updates, loaded Office 2016 etc. etc... Then I ticked the box for 'upgrade to W10.

A little over two hours later I had W10. Except....

It seems to have lost the drivers for the Network device. And the only solution it could come up with is to (guess what) connect to the Internet.

It's a tower (so no WiFi).

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    W7 to W10 upgrade

I am considering upgrading from my current w7 home premium 64 bit to w10 which is offered free.

Main reason due to w7 home premium only allowing me to use half of my 32gm of ram.

    Simple question:

Will w7 home premium 64 bit upgrade to w10 home 64 bit?
