Windows 10: Wake PC Task in task schedular not working with Rundll32.exe Powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0

Hi, Appreciate your help.I have a "wake pc" task in task schedular that performs the action of starting a program C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c exit, just for the purpse of waking the pc at 06.00 am.Now this works perfectly, when i manually sleep the pc in the usual way of clicking windows button then sleep in the bottom left.However, When i run a seperate SLEEP task in windows shcedular the night before, which runs a windows batch file of "Rundll32.exe Powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0"which also sleeps the pc ok,The wake pc task never works ??I have tried everything now it seems, ensurin

Using .vbs to sleep pc

Its for my keyboard multimedia keys. Running rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0 and executing shellexecute puts pc to deep hibernate instead of sleep and I dont want to turn off hibernation. So I'm trying to execute through vbs a standard sleep where I could sleep/wake up pc without the need for going to power button.

 

Wake Up Task won't work if PC put into sleep mode manually

Many times I use a keyboard shortcut I made to manually put my PC to sleep if I know I'm done with it for the day. The CMD embedded in the shortcut is the popular: Code:

It works, no problem. The thing is I have a task scheduled to wake my PC every morning at 4:30. But the only time this task seems to work is when the PC went into sleep mode automatically or via the Start Menu option. If I use the keyboard shortcut to put it to sleep the wake up task doesn't work the next morning. Some have suggested that the code in that keyboard command puts the PC in hibernate mode even though it clearly says "sleep" but I have hibernate mode disabled. Any clues...? Windows 10 is up to date.

Have you got lots of Rundll32.exe or svchost.exe processes running, or both?

On a normal Windows 10 system, you should not have any Rundll32.exe processes running at all. Check your startup apps the see what is causing this:

• Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc together to open Task Manager, click on the Startup Tab and see if there are any entries that are starting under rundll32, if there are, disable them
• Press WIndows + R keys together to open the run dialog, type msconfig and hit enter. Click on the services tab and check the box marked 'Hide all Microsoft Services'. Then scroll through the list of services looking for rundll32 entries, if you find any,
  uncheck them and reboot

With regards to svchost, i have noticed a huge increase in the number of these processes since the Creators Upgrade - I have 77 currently running on my system. They all are using 0% processor and HDD and on average about 1MB - 2MB, though this number does
seem excessive . . .
