Windows 10: Watchdog violation, Doom Eternal, and Windows Defender

I'm running windows 10 with Doom Eternal and I was playing "outrun the crash" with Windows Defender, trying to get at first the UAC (isn't that a funny, coincidental reference?) disabled, then windows defender. At first I thought the UAC was the issue, because it was actively bogging down the GUI and my access attempts to any program. As my computer was still crashing, moments after logging in, I thought I'd try disabling Windows Defender as Admin. This worked.

As Doom Eternal is pretty much the only thing I've installed aside from MSI Afterburner in the last 30 days, and I don't torrent or anything like that, and have been using Windows Defender for quite some time, I won't entertain the idea that it's something else, not even afterburner. I restarted my computer after playing with afterburner at least twice, and Doom Eternal produced crashes seconds after install.

Now the problem is I have to use powershell admin each new login with <sc stop WinDefend> to manually disable it. Should I try and figure out how to make a custom auto running cmd to do this at startup, and figure out a third party antivirus option?

I think it's probably likely that Bethesda has some kind of screwy DRM or spyware that sets this off, or perhaps windows is as inept as everyone says they are. Either way I'd love to figure out what's going on here.

To clarify, I have to outrun the bug that causes the crash whenever a crash is pending, as whatever it is seriously bogs down the GUI of my Windows install. After a certain amount of time or after a hang I get a blue screen with "UPC Watch Violation."

I have installed the xbox app from your link on my laptop.

When I go into the Games I Own list in the Xbox app Doom Eternal does not show (the other game I own does show up Sea of Thieves)

In the Xbox app I have a notification saying that my friend has sent me a gift of Doom Eternal. When I try to redeem the code the xbox app says the code has already been redeemed. Which it has in my Microsoft Store.

Sea of Theives shows up in both the xbox app and the Microsoft store app so I know I am logged into the correct account.

The Microsoft store app still says that Doom Eternal won't run on my Windows 10 device.

What should I do now?

I don't own an Xbox one, only a Windows 10 gaming laptop. Sorry, I should have made this clearer from the start.

Sea of thieves is installed on the laptop.

My friend tells me that he was sure that he bought me the Windows 10 version of Doom Eternal.

So, it looks like my friend has bought me the Xbox one version of Doom Eternal? If I owned an Xbox One and downloaded Doom Eternal to the Xbox One I could then play it on my Windows 10 gaming laptop via the Xbox app?

But as I don't own an Xbox One (just the WIn10 laptop) I won't be able to play this copy of Doom Eternal on my Windows 10 laptop?

Have I understood all this correctly now?
