  1. WD Passport External Hard Disk is not showing up anywhere on new laptops

    I have 4 laptops,

1 HP - Old laptop with Windows 7

1 HP - Old laptop with Windows 10

1 HP - New laptop with Windows 10

1 Lenovo X1 Carbon - New laptop with Windows 10

The old laptops are with USB 2.0 ports and the new laptops are with USB 3.0 ports. My external Hard disk works perfectly fine on the old laptops but not showing up on new laptops.

Its not listed in File Explorer, Device Manager, Disk management, Diskpart. But the light is lit on the harddisk when plugged into the new laptops.

I have tried all the possible steps out there online, youtube.

Tried expanding all the items in Device manager with show hidden devices

Uninstalled USB Serial bus controller and restarted it several times

Unable to assign drive letter in diskmanagement since the drive is not listed.

Checked the SATA settings in BIOS and it's enabled.

Disabled "USB Selective Suspend" under power management.

Also googled if it could be insufficient power from the new laptops to the hard disk but all suggested that USB 3.0 port can provide enough power to the hard disk.

I've contacted HP support and WD support as well but they don't have clue. I'd hope someone might end this misery for me.

    :)

My WD Passport external hard drive won't open. It's listed in device manager and in the properties is listed as "working properly".
