Windows 10: We need a leak!

Thanks for the reply! Ubuntu 8.04 was my first shot at Linux and I rather liked it, but after 10.04 not so much anymore. After that I experimented with Fedora, Mint, Debian, Salix, Puppy Linux and looking through my stack of installation disks, I did try out Mandriva.

 

The Nokia X is an abomination that doesn't make sense in their strategy. It should be killed off soon.

We all know that WPs aren't the biggest seller, but when you purchase Nokia's mobile device division for 5.4bn ($7.34USD) I think one had better have something that sells. I feel iPhones and Androids sold more due to carriers promoting them more and offering WPs less via the standard two year contracts. Here in the U.S. anyway. Go on their sales sites and you'll see what I mean, especially in the past. I was with Vsqueeze for about 10 years. When I told them I was thinking about switching then they squiggled around to try and keep me. It was funny! I switched to AT&Bleed simply because Vz didn't offer what I wanted. Then I purchased my 1020 via the MS online store for $50 less than what AT&Bleed offered. I bought outright and went prepay plan. I didn't agree that AT&T had the exclusive on the 1020, but it seems that's what these carriers do. Forcing OEMs into their scheme of marketing.

MS will eventually be offering the big carriers here deals that Nokia in the past could not. I believe Android OS is offered free to OEMs. Now the playing field is more level since MS bought the division. The iPhone market is limited to those that can afford the high cost. Over-priced pieces of costume jewelry so far as I'm concerned. That's not to mock those that own iPhones. To each their own.

As you may have noticed > I dislike American carriers with a passion. Somewhat brainwashed Americans with locked and branded devices into the two year contract scheme. Very costly overall. As much as $700 more on average over a two year period, depending on the device. That's not to say that some have to purchase that way, but if one buys outright and goes monthly prepay it's a heck of a lot of savings. Now I see for more per month one gets a new device"free" after contract end. They make it sound as if it's "free" when in fact it's just as much if not more cost. Anything to keep one in the shackles of a contract.

We need unlocked and unbranded devices such as other countries have > period! I feel Americans need a good education on this subject.
