Weird network share issue - not prompting for credentials

Ended up having to do a fresh install of windows recently because my RAID controller gave up the ghost. Installed directly with Win10 2004. Since then I have been having difficulty connecting to network shares from work. In the past, all I would do is connect to work VPN, enter in \\networkpath\share and it would prompt me for my credentials and go. For a couple of weeks every day I had to go into network and sharing and re-select file and print sharing, reboot, and it world work. Every day. Somehow it would forget this while I was asleep.

Today I am having a new and exciting issue. After I connect to the VPN and enter \\networkpath\share, it opens a blank file explorer window with no contents. It never prompts me for credentials. This is problematic.

I can ping the host of share just fine. I can ping other things on the network just fine. DNS is functioning and resolves the address. Firewall is off for all zones. Anti-virus is disabled just in case.

Attempting to map the drive, I get system error 1311. "We can't sign you in with this credential because your domain isn't available. Make sure your device is connected to your organization's network and try again."

I can ping the domain, with the dns. I can ping the domain with the IP address. I can sit down at any other computer on my network, in my house, connect to the VPN, and connect without any issue. It is something about this install of windows. It is something I think it has something to do with it not triggering whatever it needs to trigger to authenticate.

Let me make this clear. It does this now for all network shares including those on my home network.

Any thoughts/ideas before I re-install windows again and waste yet another weekend?

    :)
