  1. Weird PrintScreen behaviour on a desktop

    Hello there.

So, my dektop as been behaving quite weirdly, it's an old system and only a few months from getting binned but until then...

So, the issue is: I own a gskill ripjaw km780 mx that as been working pretty well so far.

Today something weird started happening: I use Lightshot to have better control over my printscreens and each time i clicked the printscreen key and took it the PC would start typing alone and performing multiple keyboard related actions (almost like it's a super huge macro).

The text that is being written is always the same, and although I understand it, forming properly typed sentences, it's not from now. Meaning -> It's something I've written a while in the past on messenger, two messages in sequence.

The drivers for the keyboard also refused to work again, I've even tried reinstaling and nothing, when i try to open the software it just minimizes for that region around the windows time and when my mouse hovers it... Puff, it disappears.

I've tried reinstaling both lightshot and this software, using the GKills software to factory reset the keyboard's cache... I've tried rebooting the system, even going to another user. Nothing works.

Using the on-screen keyboard to take printscreens works well tho.

Can anyone provide me some clue to what the heck this is and how to fix it?

Greenshot: The hotkey(s) "PrintScreen, Alt + PrintScreen, Ctrl + PrintScreen, ..." could not be registered

Adding on top of @userJT's solution -

Initially, Greenshot complained about "PrintScreen" and "Ctrl + PrintScreen" for me. It appears that "PrintScreen" was taken by OneDrive and "Ctrl + PrintScreen" - by DropBox. After you disable both, problem goes away.

    Full list of steps -

    1. See the error message like in the question. Panic, google, get to this page Weird PrintScreen behaviour on a desktop :)
    2. Note the first key that Greenshot complains about.
      • In most of the cases it will be "PrintScreen", so let's take it as an example.
    3. Press "PrintScreen" on your keyboard.
    4. OneDrive will pop up, prompting to save screenshots to OneDrive. Choose "No, Thanks" there.
    5. Click "Retry" in Greenshot's dialog, note the keys that are still taken.
    6. Repeat steps above for keys that Greenshot cannot register until it succeeds.
      • In my case it was "Ctrl + PrintScreen" that was taken by DropBox.
    7. Enjoy shortcuts in Greenshot Weird PrintScreen behaviour on a desktop :)

    HTH.

Weird PrintScreen behaviour on a desktop

    weird windows 10 behaviour

Just wonder if anyone has encountered these behaviours? It happens to me every time without exception:

If I do a restart, the computer restarts but makes the windows 7-start sound.
Upon getting to the desktop, the laptop battery meter is missing and the quiet hours, location and flight mode from the action centre are also missing.

If I then shut down the computer and start it up again, it start without making any sound and the battery meter and the three action centre icons reappear.

Apart from that, the computer/files are the same. Weird, it’s like having two different profiles.
    Ideas anyone?
