Windows 10: Weird snipping bug

Hi so today i was trying to see if i could snip a .mp4 file using the built in windows 10 movie app in full screen when all of a sudden i guess the snipping tool bugged out and now i got this grey overlay covering my screen and i can draw using these red boxes where i guess it would capture the screen with, when i open any app it gets covered by the overlay but i can access my taskbar and start menu, at the moment i don't know how to really fix this because im currently in a zoom meeting so unless the zoom meeting ends i cant restart my pc in attempts to fix it anyways i just thought of letting people know of this weird bug i found by accident. If any of you need a photo of the bug i don't mind sending one.

Your post is unclear. Please post a step-by-step description of what you are doing, e.g. like so:

• Open the snipping tool
• Click "New"
• etc.

 

Snipping tool bug - does not save a snip 1st time

I have a Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 17134)

1. Open a snipping tool

2. Click on a new snip (have a rectangular snip mode set)

3. Take a snip and press save (black floppy disk)

4. Choose a location, name a snip and press save

Current result: Snip will not be saved, only if you press save (black floppy disk) again and then press save - it will ask you whether you want to overwrite it - if you choose yes, only then the snippet will be created in a given location.

Expected result:

Snip will be saved in a current location directly after step 4.

Please, Microsoft, fix this bug, I am actually using your snipping tool for work, and this drives me crazy!

This bug is here for quite some time and it haven´t been fixed.

Apologies, if this is not a proper forum for bug report, but this is the only one I know.

Oh, okay, I get it on that but, here's what I did; I pressed Ctrl and PrtScn and the Snipping Tool popped up with the overlay and crosshairs ready to go! Only worked once though!

BTW, you can eliminate steps 2 and 3. *Wink
