The preview is faster because it's a fresh install, and you haven't cluttered it up with stuff yet *Wink

Remember, this is an early technical release, and it's missing a lot of stuff that will come in later builds.

Agreed, at least for me. Some may have upgraded through bringing along a lot of crud.

    Dat crud.

Tho ya it's similer to a fresh Win8 install. Which was pretty snappy itself.

I can't achieve what you are saying.
    In steps, what I mean:
    1. Open say, Internet Explorer (from the pinned icon) on Desktop 1.
    2. Click on "Task View" and create a new dektop and choose that desktop.
    3. Left Click on the pinned Internet Explorer icon.

What should popup is the Internet explorer from Desktop 1 and you will actually reswitch to Desktop 1 too. If I left click on Internet Explorer on Desktop 2, I should be able to open a new instance without Middle clicking or right click -> Software name.

  5. Not bad once clearing out all of the default apps,
I've always and probably always will use these apps as a website most of which are on my homepage *Wink

Unless I get a really cool theme maker custom visuals it's life as I now it *Wink
Default apps I just can't get into them :/ and hate to be signed into all of them these are feeds which will soak up needed resources in my case *Wink

How do you get to the Modern Start Screen or is it completely gone? I don't use it but I'm curious.

  8. Well, after playing around for about 20 minutes...

    My experience was completely different.

There was no Local Account link during my install.
I looked for it based on how the W8 series worked. *Confused

I noticed that W10TP checked my network and then it asked for my MS Account.

I used the "Back" button (which took me back to the Options screen) and then I disconnected the network.
When I confirmed my Options, I was taken to the Local Account setup screen. *Smile

To avoid the MS Account screen, disconnect your network during the installation.

    Update
After checking Brink's tutorial I see how it works.
MS cunningly hid the Local Account option on a completely different screen. *Mad

I notice a Feedback window didn't pop-up for that part of the W10TP experience.

    I've got that issue too.

Why? That's not the way that Jumplists have worked since Windows 7 was released. This is exactly the same functionality that Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 has with the exception of it moving to the screen as well.

  10. I understand what Lebon is saying and agree, when you go to another virtual desktop it shouldn't switch you back to the desktop with that app open, it should automatically open as a new instance on that desktop...

Mystere, You are talking about jump lists but i don't think Lebon is... Lebons instructions talk about virtual desktops which never existed in 7, 8 or 8.1 so it couldn't have worked the same.

    EDIT:
When on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc desktop if you right click and click internet explorer it does create a new instance for that desktop but i believe if you are on a new desktop it should just create a new instance when you left click as normal

  11. Yes. But luckily they give you the option to switch to the Start Screen even without touch. *Smile

  12. Has anyone been running the Preview in a VM and having issues signing into a Microsoft Account? I figured some backend things immediately after launch were still being put in place but even still after a few days, I can't sign into my account to give them feedback.

Does that remove the start menu if you use that option?

Yes, it switches the whole immersive UI. You have to use one or the other.

  15. At least for this build. They showed how in with the Continuum UI feature, on tablets and touch PCs that the start menu portion will carry over. So how the mini Start Screen is in Windows 10, take that, expand it out. That's theoretically what they're building. This Preview build doesn't have that as this is intended for mouse users and non-touch PCs.
