Windows 10: "We'll need you current Windows password one last time."

After I attempt to sign in with my local account by entering the email address then password, this window pops up requesting an additional password entry. I attempt to use my latest password to the account and even the password for my PC but nothing works. I am attempting to configure administrator settings but cannot do so bc I cannot proceed passed this window. Any help is appreciated.

Long boot time and passwords missing

The only reason I mention the account is that a Windows update recently was causing people to be signed into a temporary account, your password manager may be installed for all users but the list of passwords would be user specific, therefore the blank password list suggests a different account. *Smile

According to your description, I knew that you were trying to log in to your system with your Microsoft account, but you were prompted for your Windows password, but you forgot because you used your fingerprint and password to log in earlier. Is that right?



First of all, did you use a Microsoft account or created a local account when you first logged in?

• Under normal circumstances, if you log in directly with a Microsoft account, you will not be asked for the Windows local account password. Usually, you can log in directly with the Microsoft account password.
  
  If so, you can also try logging in to your Microsoft account in a browser on another device, then try changing your account password, and then try logging in on your current device.
  

• If you created a local account, you will be prompted to create a password and 3 retrieval questions. You can visit Change or reset your Windows password(microsoft.com) for the specific retrieval steps.
  

Then, it is recommended that you try to enter Safe Mode to try to log in. You can press and hold the Shift key on the login screen, then restart, after restarts to the "Choose an option" screen , select "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Startup Settings" > "Restart", after restarts, you' ll see a list of options. Select 4 or press F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode. Or if you'll need to use the internet, select 5 or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking. You can click Start your PC in safe mode in Windows (microsoft.com) to view the specific operation steps.
